Ola Hylten has left the building!

Ola Hylten our beloved friend, colleague, father and president of Let´s Test has checked out for good.

Our thoughts goes to his daughters and family!

Tuesday night Ola was driving close to home and for unknown reasons his car got off the road and flipped around several times.

One of the last things we did together with Ola was selecting the program for Let´s Test 2013 and he was very thrilled and excited about the outcome.

Ola will always be with us and this is a great loss for the testing community in Sweden.
The memories of Ola will always make us smile.

We ain’t no legends ain’t no cause
We’re just livin’ for today
For those about to rock, we salute you

    What terrible news.
I never got the chance to meet Ola and was looking forward to meeting him at Lets Test. A great loss to the community.

My sympathy and condolences go out to his family and friends.

  2. I am very saddened to hear the news that Ola is not with us. I did not have the opportunity to meet him in real life that I was so anxious to do at LetsTest 2013. He will be solely missed. Things won’t be same without him. He left a hole that would be hard to fill. Please pass my sincere condolences to his family.

  3. My condolences to Ola’s family and close friends. It is a sad, sad day. I will always remember Ola as the tester with the greatest Rock’n Roll spirit. Let’s Test 2013 would have been an opportunity to meet again. Ola, whereever you are, I salute you. May peace be with you.

I met Ola for the first time at Let’s Test and was looking forward to getting to know a new colleague over the coming years. Luckily, I had a lot of great conversations with him at the conference that can now serve as happy memories of him.

Terribly sad news. Condolences and best wishes for his family.

Shocking and very sad news. I only meet Ola once, at Let’s Test 2012 this spring. Now I was looking forward to meet him again at Oredev in only two weeks time, where we both were lined up to speak on the Friday. “A rebellious attitude will serve you well as a tester” was his talk at Oredev named, and that is probably how I’ll remember him.

My thought are with his family, what a tragedy.

  6. Wow. I can’t believe this. I am so very saddened by this news. I met Ola at AYE a few years ago and looked forward to meeting him again at Let’s Test. My condolences to his family and close friends. I will miss him.

Raise a glass and give a cheer,
For a dear friend who is no longer here.
My life is better since you were in it,
Passion and learning with a rock & roll spirit.
You gave us gifts of life so sweet,
Some as important as a heartbeat.
To live, love, learn and laugh,
I offer as a simple epitaph.
The world is brighter since you were a part,
Thank you, Ola, with all my heart.

  7. I am shocked! Ola became a great friend after I met him the first time at our local community meeting. The man with no fears and just rocking on with the things he loved and did best.

Thoughts go to his beloved family and friends.

    Rest in peace my friend

  8. It pains my heart and the pain cannot go away. Ola and I shared great friendship and meeting several times. This is unbelievable. I was waiting to meet him in Oredev in 2 weeks and he has left a huge void in my life. His passion to do great testing and to be a part of context driven testing community was awesome and inspiring.

    I can’t take this.

Condolences to Ola’s family, the little girls and all his close friends. I’ll never forget the welcome at the 2012 Let’s Test, performed by the big guy himself, inked up and wearing a rocker shirt. He will a void of emptiness that can never be filled by anyone else.

  10. The first thing I noticed early in the morning is this shocking news from Parimala Hariprasad over social network. I have been noticing Ola’s service to the testing community for long time. Sad that I can’t able to follow him in future.

My hearty condolence to Ola’s family. Rest In Peace Ola.

Saddened by this shocking news. My heart goes out to his little kids, family and friends. And to the testing community, who loses a great mind.
    We’ll miss you.
    Rock on, Ola

  12. Thank you all for the love and support you are giving Ola and his family.
Knowing Ola, he would be humble, overwhelmed and very proud of all you fantastic friends he has gained trough this community.
All your condolences both here and on twitter will be sent to Olas family.

I was shocked when I got the news about Ola from my manager yesterday. Last time I met Ola was just some weeks ago at a Logica workshop. Still I can’t believe all this is true. It can’t be.
It makes me think about how fragile we are, how quick everything could come to an end. It makes me think about how stupid we are many times concerning and stressing about tiny little things in our every day lives. Let’s promise ourselves to focus more on things that are important for real instead, like our family and our friends.
Thanks for everything Ola and take care wherever you are.

  14. I had the great fortune of meeting Ola for the first time last year at Let’s Test. We became instant pals and chatted into the wee hours of the morning about testing, and life, and stuff. What a tremendous jewel of a soul I was privileged to encounter.
Given the depth of emotion that I’m feeling that he is gone, I can barely imagine what those who were close to him are feeling. My heart aches for those grieving. I wish you all peace, healing, love and light.
As for Ola, I have no doubt that he’s testing all manner of things in the next episode of the mystical cycle of being.

  15. Condolences from me and the whole context-driven testing community of Estonia. Me and several other context-driven testers met Ola during Let’s Test 2012 and we were thrilled to enjoy his company. Humble and yet powerful individual who presented both the enjoyments and struggles of trying to be the best in whatever we do.

Så hemska och tragiska nyheter om Ola…
Det har tagit mig en vecka att försöka förstå, men det är så svårt.

Mina tankar går till Olas barn och familj.
Mina tankar går till hans vänner och kollegor.
    Ta hand om er alla!

    • Very very very sad news! It was a privilege meeting Ola at Lets Test and it is a shame that there will be no next time.
The testing community has lost a great guy!

My sympathy and condolences to his family and friends.

  17. I had the pleasure of experiencing Ola in action when I attended Let’s Test 2012, and I was looking forward to meeting him again. That his energy and great charisma is now silent is hard to believe. Life is good, but life can be so bad.

My deepest sympathies and condolences to his family and to you, his colleagues and friends.

I’m looking so much forward to again taking part of Let’s Test in May 2013. Ola’s spirit is in the programme. He will be there.

Absolutely gutted to hear this news.

Like most others commenting here, I was fortunate to meet & get some quality time with Ola at Lets Test 2012.

He was a great character, very welcoming & a fantastic community builder.

So long Ola, you will be missed

  20. This is the right blog for anyone who wishes to understand
this topic. You understand so much its almost hard to argue with you
(not that I personally would want to…HaHa). You definitely put a new spin on a subject which has
been discussed for years. Wonderful stuff, just wonderful!
